pronoun

pronoun atau kata ganti adalah kata yg digunakan untuk menggantikan fungsi dari kata benda.

- macam2 pronoun adalah :

1. personal pronoun

merupakan pronoun yg menunjukkan orang pertama, kedua dan ketiga

contoh :

I adalah kata ganti orang pertama

she adalah kata ganti orang ketiga

you adalah kata ganti orang kedua

2. demonstrative pronoun

merupakan kata ganti penunjuk

contoh :

this is a book

these are books

* the former and the latter

the former = yg pertama dari dua pokok benda

the latter = yg kedua dari dua pokok benda

contoh :

karim n nurdin will go to america, the former is my friend and the latter is my cousin

jadi the former itu karim dan the latter itu nurdin...

3. indefinite pronoun

merupakan kata ganti tak tentu

contoh :

* anything

* another

* anyone

* each

* someone

* no one

* neither

* everybody

* most

* dll

4. interrogative pronoun

merupakan kata ganti tanya

contoh :

* whom do you speak ?

* who is he ?

* by what did u come ?

* in what did u keep the pen ?

* of what colour is the book ?

* which is yours ?

5. reflexive pronoun

merupakan kata ganti diri sendiri

contoh :

* myself

* yourself

* ourselves

* themselves

6. reciprocal pronoun

merupakan kata ganti yg saling berhubungan

contoh :

* each other = untuk 2 orang

* one another = untuk lebih dari 2 orang

7. relative pronoun

merupakan kata ganti penghubung

* jakarta which is a capital city is an attractive city

* ali who is a teacher teaches english

* the man whom you want to see him has just left

* i have a cat whose tail is long

* is this place where the accident happened ?

# non-defining relative

pronoun ini memberikan keterangan tambahan kepada subyek

contoh :

my mother, who is over 50 years, still plays golf

8. possesive pronoun

merupakan kata ganti kepemilikan

* orang pertama = my, our

* orang kedua = your

* orang ketiga = his, her, its, their

# yg tidak diikuti oleh kata bendanya

* orang pertama = mine, ours

* orang kedua = yours

* orang ketiga = his, hers, its, theirs
